<g:title>PREORDER - You Need to Wake Up - Granular Memory Reverb</g:title>
      <g:description>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CURRENTLY ON PREORDER!

Estimated shipping: September 2026.

What happens after you order:

1. You receive an order confirmation email immediately.

2. I email you personally within 48 hours to confirm that your build is in the queue.

3. You receive a shipping notification with tracking when your pedal goes out.

Cancellation: Full refunds are available any time before shipment. Email kgscheuer@gmail.com with your order number.

U.S. buyers: U.S. orders are temporarily suspended due to the current 50% tariff affecting Canadian-made effects pedals. Join the mailing list at https://ligmaelectronics.com/#newsletter and I’ll let you know when regular U.S. shipping resumes.

If you live in the U.S. and are seriously interested in buying a pedal in the short term, email kgscheuer@gmail.com. We can probably figure something out.

Other international buyers: Email kgscheuer@gmail.com with your country and postal code for a shipping quote before ordering.

Questions? kgscheuer@gmail.com

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YOU NEED TO WAKE UP

A stereo granular memory reverb that quietly records your playing, then lets fragments of it return inside a studio-quality room.

It remembers what you played. Do you?

While you play, You Need to Wake Up listens for actual musical input and stores approximately forty seconds of playing (not forty seconds of wall-clock time). Silence, hiss, and switch noise are ignored. A scheduler then pulls phrases and fragments from that memory and returns them to the reverb.

Some memories arrive bright and recent. Others drift like damaged tape, fall an octave, break into pulse-sized holes, or return as an inaccurate recollection of something you played half a minute ago.

CORE SOUND

At its centre is a full-stereo room reverb with approximately 2 ms of latency. The dry path remains at full level while MIX raises the processed wash around it.

DECAY moves from a short room to a long, enveloping tail. HI CUT ranges from open and airy to dark and distant. The reverb can also be switched off completely while leaving the memory engine active.

THE MEMORY

GUESTS controls how often stored fragments appear. At low settings, a memory may surface only occasionally. Around noon, phrases return more regularly. Higher settings build into a moving swarm.

DRIFT determines how those fragments age. Depending on the selected memory mode, recalled audio can remain recognizable, move like worn tape, or break apart into old and badly fractured pieces.

The MEMORY toggle selects three different time perspectives:

NOW - Recent, bright stereo afterimages

THEN - Phrases and motifs that return with tape-like movement

ONCE - Older, longer and more fractured memories

The REGISTER toggle selects the pitch range of recalled fragments:

Down one octave

Near unison with gentle detuning

Up one octave

SECONDARY CONTROLS

Hold the ENTER footswitch to access five additional controls:

GATE - Sets how easily the pedal detects your playing

SWELL - Fades new playing into the reverb over approximately 20 ms to 2.5 seconds

LO CUT - Removes low frequencies from the wet signal

MEMORY LEVEL - Sets the volume of recalled fragments from off to +6 dB

WEAR - Controls how quickly recurring ideas darken and deteriorate

A secondary function changes only after its knob is moved, preventing sudden jumps when entering or leaving the shifted control layer.

PERFORMANCE CONTROLS

Tap ENTER to engage or bypass the pedal.

Tap WAKE to immediately clear the forty-second memory without cutting the existing reverb tail.

Hold WAKE to isolate the wet scene. The reverb and any memories already speaking continue, but no new playing enters the room, recorder, or memory scheduler. Your dry signal remains live. Release the footswitch to reconnect smoothly.

The multicolour LED shows the pedal’s current state, input activity, audible memories, shifted controls, memory clearing, and wet-scene isolation.

ROUTING

Internal switches configure the pedal for:

Mono input to mono output

Mono input to stereo output

Stereo input to mono output

Full stereo operation

Additional switches enable trails or remove the dry signal for parallel and mixer-loop setups.

Trails mode allows the reverb to continue ringing and keeps the memory engine listening while the pedal is bypassed. With trails disabled, the pedal uses hard relay bypass, the reverb tail is cut, and the memory is held.

Kill Dry provides a wet-only output for parallel rigs and mixer effects loops.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

24-bit / 48 kHz audio conversion

32-bit floating-point processing

Approximately 2 ms latency

Approximately forty seconds of playing memory

Full stereo input and output on TRS jacks

1 MΩ input impedance

Approximately 470 Ω output impedance

Maximum linear input: +8.2 dBu

Maximum output: +8.8 dBu

9V DC, centre-negative power

200 mA current draw

Use an isolated power supply rated for at least 300 mA

Designed, assembled and tested in Alberta, Canada.
</g:description>

Inspired by the “Demon Core” incident, it’s designed for players who want a wide palette of overdrive and distortion tones in a small enclosure.

SD-1 Side - A mid-forward, low-gain overdrive with smooth clipping - ideal for everything from bluesy grit to stacked high gain. We've added a clipping mode switch that lets you toggle between classic SD-1 asymmetrical diodes and symmetrical silicon for a more Tube Screamer-like response. Powered by a NE5532 op-amp, this side delivers low noise, high headroom, and clean articulation.

RAT Side - A faithful recreation of the original circuit’s snarling distortion, featuring a filter voicing switch to open up the low end for fatter riffs and heavier tones, specifically tuned for 5 string bass. Built around the OP07 op-amp, it offers greater precision and thermal stability than the original LM308, preserving the signature sound while improving consistency.

Inside the enclosure, an internal red switch activates the “Clean RAT” mod - removing the clipping diodes to transform the RAT into a powerful, uncompressed overdrive or clean boost. Most PT2399 pedals are simple analog circuits with a couple of knobs and a 3PDT bypass. This one keeps the warm, slightly degraded PT2399 sound but adds a microcontroller front end and a feature set you won't find on the usual fare:

Tap tempo with three musical subdivisions (dotted eighth, quarter, eighth-note triplet)

Two distinct modulation voicings (gentle sine chorus or aggressive sawtooth wobble), tempo-synced to the delay time

Breathing indicator LED that visualizes the modulation rate

True bypass via latching relay (no switch pop, no signal coloration when disengaged)

Separate regulated analog and digital 5V supply rails with ferrite isolation, so the microcontroller activity stays out of the audio path

Memory that recalls your settings on power-up

Nightmare Mode for when you want to break things on purpose

Inspired by the mass-hallucinated "hat man" figure commonly reported by those who push the antihistamine past its intended dose.

Core Sound - The PT2399 provides the dark, slightly degraded repeats that analog purists love, but every parameter is digitally controlled for repeatability and quiet operation. Delay time ranges from 30 ms to approximately 600 ms.

Tap Tempo and Subdivisions - The right footswitch sets tempo by tap. A three-way toggle locks repeats to dotted eighths, straight quarters, or eighth-note triplets, applied on top of whatever delay time is dialed in. Two LED "eyes" at the top of the enclosure alternate winking in time with the current delay rate, and flash together to confirm each tap.

Two Modulation Voices - A second toggle selects between two distinct mod options. Soft mode is a gentle sine wave for subtle chorus-style movement on the repeats. Deep mode is a sawtooth ramp at double rate for aggressive tape-slip wobble. Both are tempo-synced to the current delay time and fade in smoothly to prevent pitch pops. The indicator LED breathes in time with the modulation rate, so you can see the LFO at a glance.

Nightmare Mode - Hold the right footswitch to push the delay into deliberately unstable territory, with random pitch and time modulation that scales as you turn the Time knob during the hold. Release to snap back to your previous setting. Intensity is remembered between uses.

Memory - Delay time, bypass state, and Nightmare intensity save automatically and restore on power-up, so the pedal picks up where you left off. Hold the bypass switch while powering the pedal for a factory reset, confirmed by a triple blink of the indicator LED.

Additional Features:

True bypass via latching relay with smooth LED fades on engage and disengage

Internal clock-feedback correction keeps delay time accurate against PT2399 component drift

Anti-aliasing filtering on both sides of the delay chip

Standard 9V DC center-negative power, ~40 mA draw, compatible with isolated and daisy-chain supplies

Compact enclosure with 1/4" mono in/out

Designed, assembled, and tested in Alberta, Canada

Shipping available to USA and Canada, please contact us directly for a quote for international orders!

</g:description>
